    Hello Joan, thanks for replying.

We’re trying to spread the concept throughout the District (and beyond) as a way to get old and young, “builders” and “flyers” together for some shared respect and learning. Not sure if we should try for centralized venues or get clubs to do it on a smaller scale to start and hopefully grow to a larger district event. Some of our older modelers will require help getting out or maybe getting some old favorites airworthy and if they aren’t comfortable flying them get some pilots to be “co pilots” on buddy boxes to let them have the thrill again. We just see it as a great outreach to gather groups that, let’s say, have been at odds now and then over the recent years. There is learning and sharing to take place in both directions.

Several District officers (suggested by John Yassemedis) have been kicking around the idea of a “Nostalgia day” event to invite out some of our master craftsman in the region. It would be a relaxed day of commeraderie and flying/ static displays of some of these works of art as well as an opportunity to mingle the “old guard” with the younger generation who rarely if ever get to talk about or see scratch and kit built aircraft. It’s a way to honor the traditional modelers and have them pass on some of their talent while highlighting their treasures. Give it some thought and share ideas here please. Things like: venue, date(s), transportation for some of the “old guard”, etc. Thanks, Daren Hudson on behalf of District 1
